   GET TO KNOW ME

Hello everyone! I'm Maddie Lindahl, and I would love for you to get to know me a bit more!

First of all, I love cows, and love to talk about them when I get the chance. This is because I grew up on my family's dairy farm in Lindstrom, Minnesota. I learned so many valuable lessons growing up on a farm, and it is what inspired me to pursue Animal Science.

Speaking of which, I just graduated (in May of 2018) from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities with a Bachelor degree in Animal Science, with an emphasis in dairy production. My time spent at CFANS (the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resource Sciences) was a wonderful way to connect to other young adults dreaming of (and becoming) leaders in agriculture, all while learning from brilliant mentors and professors.

Depending on how well you know me, you may be surprised to hear that I actually spent two years at the University of Minnesota - Duluth campus. I adored my time there; Duluth is a city I can breathe in! Being able to see the lake from my on-campus apartment was delightful. Those were two very formative years, and though I faced many difficulties there, I am glad that I had them.

Beyond college, I have my wonderful family. My two parents and two siblings have been struggling with the thought of me leaving for an entire year, but they have been so supportive through it. I know that this year will bring challenges for them, just as it will for me.

This has been a very brief, but very whirlwind introduction to who I am. If you are interested in keeping in touch with me while I am away in Senegal, please send me an email here, or find me on Facebook

   GET TO KNOW YAGM

YAGM (Young Adults in Global Mission) is a program run by the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) which sends young adults ages 21-29 abroad for a year to do mission work. Currently, YAGM has programs in 11 different countries across the world, and sends about 85 adults per year.

YAGM intends to be transformative for the young adults who participate, asking us to consider our role in this world, especially considering how God is asking us to be active in it. We are asked to walk alongside the communities we are placed in by living like they do, learning and using the languages these communities do, and sharing ourselves with them for a year.
